I'll always love different types of fashion and I don't tend to get stuck in one style but I do prefer the elegance of the 40's 50's and early 60's. So, after a lifetime of customising my own clothes, I decided to create my own dresses from scratch. It was only meant to be a few dresses at first but factories don't like doing short runs so it snowballed a bit and now it's what I do full time.
I'm much more of a creative person than a business person. When I started Glamour Bunny the creative side was the part I most enjoyed. Designing dresses, seeing the patterns come to life, working on photoshoots and working with other creative people on printed media and on the website. This was the part of Glamour Bunny which gave me most satisfaction. However, any business woman will tell you that you have to get stuck in to all the stuff that gives you headaches too. My patterns are made in the UK where I can oversee them but they're sent overseas to a factory to be made up. There always seems to be problems with customs and the heavy taxes and duty on top of shipping.
Jessica Rabbit. That's the way my designs are drawn. I've seen other designers sleek drawings of barely there women and it just wouldn't work with the style I like. My dresses have a definite curve to them. Whether you're slim or fuller figured you can still have an hourglass shape. I've had so many 'thank you' messages from women who've finally found a dress which is actually cut that way. Colour is also something I'm big on. I like to have colour all year round so I pay no attention to seasonal trends. I'll just do what I like!
The best selling Glamour Bunny dress is the Shift. It's very well tailored so that it fits rather than just hanging off your body. I only have a few sizes left. The rest are sold out. I'll be making it again, this time in black and in red. I was surprised when this sold so well. I don't really like black I prefer colours and it's so simple that I just thought it would do for the more reserved buyer. Turns out that people like to dress it up for evenings, sling on a cardigan for daytimes and use it as a versatile dress.
The thing I like most about being Miss Glamour Bunny is that I'm doing something I enjoy. I've never had a really serious personality so business on anyone elses terms is suffocating.
Wisdom cupcake? I'm not sure I'm the right person to ask. I put off going my own way for a long time because I was scared it might not work. I guess I would say, don't let fear put you off doing something. Overcome it.
And now for a few fabulous pieces for glamorous bunnies!
