The Vintage at Southbank Centre PR office kindly remembered me and forwarded some information on the festival for me to share with you. Having known about it for months, I'm still trying to decide wether I should fly over to attend or not - it seems absolutely dreamy!
"Vintage at Southbank Centre is a three-day party, a big dressing-up box and a collector’s dream, celebrating the 1920s to the 1980s. Join us for this exclusive event where ticket holders will enjoy over 13 hours of music, fashion, film, art, design, and dance each day.
Every evening Southbank Centre plays host to a one-off, themed Vintage Revue focusing on electronica, soul, or the Hit Parade. Throughout the party there’ll be 70 live performances, 150 DJs, including Norman Jay, Greg Wilson, Craig Charles, A Guy Called Gerald and Bip Ling; exclusive ‘Soundtrack of Their Lives’ catwalk shows with Jo Wood, Pearl & Daisy Lowe and Sue Tilley; decade specific make-overs; Vintage food and cocktails and 250 sellers at the Vintage Marketplace with outlets including Benefit, Cath Kidston and Horrockses.
The six levels of Royal Festival Hall are transformed into a multi-venue playground, curated by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingwayand the Hemingway Design team, with eight Vintage nightclubs offering seven decades of British cool. Each club venue will offer dance lessons led by professional instructors so visitors can learn the steps to whatever gets them grooving. There’ll be unique performances by soul legend Percy Sledge, electronics pioneer Thomas Dolby and 60s icon Sandie Shaw. More names will be announced soon!
